We are currently touring four major works internationally including the ingenious theatre gem SMALL METAL OBJECTS which unfolds amid the pedestrian traffic against the backdrop of the city. On a raised seating back with individual sets of headphones the audience is wired in to an intensely personal drama being played out somewhere in the crowd.
First performed at the Melbourne Festival in 2009, FOOD COURT, the story of one woman's humiliation which is played out constructed from light and sound. Part concert part theatre show each performance features a remarkable improvised score by THE NECKS. Luminously fragile, FOOD COURT is a near death experience in a suburban wonderland where a small fatality of dignity takes place between The Asia Hut and The Juice Bar.
Enjoying immense popularity on the International festival circuit, Back to Back's THE DEMOCRATIC SET is a residency model for creating short films and performances, to explore the belief that all people are, in principle, equal and should enjoy social, political and economic rights and opportunities.
In September 2011, Back to Back will premiere a new work with Malthouse Theatre and Melbourne Festival. GANESH VERSUS THE THIRD REICH is the rambunctious and provocative fable of crossed histories, lost myths and the wrath of a god scorned.
