About Bendigo Family and Financial Services Inc. was established in 2006 to help break the cycle of material aid and generational poverty in Bendigo.
Description Current Activities of Bendigo Family and Financial Services Inc:

We currently provide:

. A Young Mother's Group which support parents and their children by providing them with the opportunity to withdraw from their house and meet new people, offering time to socialise in a caring, safe, friendly and non judgmental environment, while joining in group activities (learning valuable team building skills) and to share their life experiences one on one or with the group. Guest speakers covering a range of topics throughout the year (i.e. housing support, domestic violence, family law, metal health, health centre nurse, breastfeeding nurse, disability support); Young parents will learn financial literacy skills through the money minded program while receiving one on one case management with a community case worker and / or financial counselor and gain an understanding of the different programs that are available for low income earners (i.e. No Interest Loans Scheme, The Step Up Program, The Adds Up Program, Utility Relief Grant); will gain a knowledge of nutritional meals / food and will improve their general education on health and safety of others by completing level one first aid

· Financial Counseling: this is a service for people who would like more information about what to do if they can’t pay bills, fines or debts, including working out payment arrangements with creditors, provide information on government assistance's, help with Centrelink issues, assist with loan and credit issue and provide information about bankruptcy.

· Financial Case Management: where there is a greater level of assistance required to move forward, case management is offered to clients. This is an interactive process including: budgeting, advocacy and personal development and is goal orientated.

· Group work programs: Social Stitches: a community craft program aimed at eliminating social isolation as a result of low income. The group offers a day of craft act
