Description | Southern Youth Ballet was founded by Liz Buckland in 1996 to enable young dancers in the South East of England to perform in cameo productions of full-length classical Ballets, and original works. Since then, the Company has presented The Nutcracker,Coppelia, La Fille mal Gardée, Aurora’s Wedding, Pineapple Poll and original ballets including The House at Pooh Corner, which was danced at a gala performance at the Congress Theatre, Eastbourne, presented by Birmingham Royal Ballet. Southern Youth Ballet Orchestra conducted by Kenneth Roberts is made up of professional players from London and the South East of the United Kingdom, and has helped the Company to improve their performances with a live orchestra over the years. Southern Youth Ballet is grateful to all teachers for their help and encouragement in giving permission for students to dance in these productions. Younger members of the Company have appeared twice with Northern Ballet Theatre in Great Expectations and Romeo and Juliet. Since its formation in 1996, Southern Youth Ballet has been based in Eastbourne, East Sussex, Great Britain. |
